The Middle School Program
The young adolescent (11 to 15 years old) is in a state of growth and transformation, leaving childhood and beginning preparation for adulthood. They are developing a greater sense of autonomy, self-discipline and responsibility. This period of maturation is characterized by an inner drive to be connected to one’s peers and one's society, the beginning of an exploration of adult vocations and responsibilities, and a yearning for independence.
Pacific Crest Middle School is specifically designed to support the adolescent students as they face new challenges and explore new possibilities. Our program combines all of the elements necessary for this developmental stage. We offer a safe, nurturing community of adults and young people joined together to support the learning and development of the students.
Our students are supported by a dynamic team of teachers and adults who are committed to supporting the students in all aspects of their development. Mentor teachers help students track their work, their classes and their planning. The weekly schedule and planning calendars provide a framework for the life-long skill of time management and discipline. Mentor teachers meet regularly with students and parents to form a collaborative team to provide the framework and structure necessary for each student’s success.
